AdventHealth Central Florida Transitioning Back To “Red” Status

Daytona Beach, FL - Citing a downward trend in COVID-19 hospitalizations, AdventHealth announces that their Central Florida division will return to "red" status effective Wednesday, which will allow deferred surgical procedures to continue. AdventHealth is still treating a significant number of COVID-19 patients, but the healthcare system has noted that admissions continue to slow. “We are thankful that we continue to see a downward trend of COVID patients in our hospitals and that will allow us to provide care to those who have had to delay certain procedures,” said Dr. Neil Finkler, chief clinical officer of AdventHealth Central Florida. “Our teams are still working very hard and we’re not out of the woods, but we want to do everything we can to improve the quality-of-life for those who have been patiently waiting.” According to an email from AdventHealth, the change to red status means new surgical procedures will be reduced to maximize efficiency and only outpatient procedures with a same-day discharge will be scheduled. Additionally, non-time-sensitive elective surgeries are deferred and any non-time-sensitive or non-emergent procedures must be approved by the campus chief medical officer. Outpatient surgery sites and pediatric surgeries continue as normal. Patients impacted by this status change will be contacted by their physician’s office to schedule their procedure.
