First-Degree Murder Charge Filed Against Man Who Shot DBPD Officer

Daytona Beach, FL – The State Attorney’s Office, 7th Judicial District, got a warrant charging 29-year-old Othal Wallace with First Degree Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer not long after Daytona Beach Police officer Jason Raynor passed away last night (August 17).  Wallace has been held without bond on an Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer charge since July 2, 2021, after being extradited from Georgia.  Wallace Waives Extradition In Georgia Courtroom “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Officer Jason Raynor, the Daytona Beach Police Department, and all our brothers and sisters in law enforcement today,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said, “and we will proceed with our solemn mission to hold Officer Jason Raynor’s murderer accountable. Justice equals accountability and justice demands the death penalty.” Wallace will be in a Volusia County courtroom this afternoon (August 18) at 1:30 p.m. on the upgraded charge. He’s scheduled for a Criminal Hearing on October 29, 2021.
