Woman Facing Aggravated Manslaughter Charge In Death Of 11-Month-Old

Port Orange, FL - A Daytona Beach woman is now facing an aggravated manslaughter charge after Port Orange investigators tie them to the death of an 11-month-old girl back in January; a death that has since been ruled as fentanyl toxicity. A report from the Port Orange Police Department (POPD) obtained by News Daytona Beach says the child was taken to the hospital on January 28 after she was unresponsive and not breathing. The child was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Police later met with the mother, 26-year-old Ises Sellers, who said the child was not feeling good and had nasal congestion, so Sellers decided to take a nap with the child as she laid on her chest. Sellers then told investigators that when her boyfriend came home, her daughter was still on her chest and wasn’t breathing or responding. Help later arrived and took the child to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The report later states that a post-mortem toxicology test conducted on the child concluded that fentanyl was found in her bloodstream, enough to rule her death as "fentanyl toxicity." Furthermore, investigators noted that Sellers admitted to using fentanyl the morning of her child’s death, which led the POPD to file charges for aggravated manslaughter. An arrest warrant was filed on Friday (July 16), and the Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) Crime Suppression Team (CST) executed the warrant at her home the same day. According to a report from deputies, Sellers grabbed a bag of a white rock-like substance and tried to conceal it in her hand during her arrest. Sellers additionally tried to keep deputies from locking her right hand in a handcuff by bringing her hand in front of her body. Sellers eventually threw the bag on the ground after she was commanded to. Deputies later tested that bag along with another bag found within a vehicle she was standing near and found traces of cocaine in both. After deputies searched Sellers, she attempted to run away while she was still handcuffed. She was soon stopped by a deputy. Sellers has since been charged with aggravated manslaughter, escaping, possession of cocaine, and resisting an officer without violence. She remains in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond.
