DeLand, FL - Volusia County deputies say they have filed a warrant for a 24-year-old Orlando man who is facing multiple charges after fleeing from a traffic stop in a stolen car. A release from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) says Nathan Griffin—who, according to the sheriff’s office, is employed as a security guard—was pulled over in the DeLand area on Monday (July 5) after a deputy clocked him at 83 mph in a 65 mph zone. During the traffic stop, the deputy determined that Griffin’s license was suspended and the car he was driving was reported stolen out of Orlando. Griffin has since been charged with fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting an officer without violence, and driving while license suspended or revoked. VSO says they’re encouraging Griffin to turn himself in. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact VSO at 386-248-1777 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 888-277-TIPS (8477).
