Wallace Waives Extradition In Georgia Courtroom

Daytona Beach, FL – Othal Wallace, the suspect in the shooting of Daytona Beach Police (DBPD) officer Joshua Raynor last week, will be back in Florida soon. During a hearing in a Georgia courtroom this morning (June 29) Wallace waived extradition to Florida.  The judge at the hearing told Wallace that he does have a choice about being extradited. "Mr. Wallace, you have a choice between three options here. Do you wish to waive the formal extraction process? Do you wish to contest your extradition? Or would you like to consult a public defender?" Wallace told the judge that he wanted to return to Florida. "I believed I just signed a paper waiving extradition so I can proceed to go back to the state of Florida." DBPD Public Information Officer Messod Bendayan said that DBPD is not involved in the extradition process. Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) Public Information Officer Andrew Gant said in a press release that no information will be released on plans or any scheduling details about the extradition. Now that Wallace has waived extradition, the case is in the hands of Florida’s 7th District State Attorney’s Office.
