FCSO: Man Who Molested Girl For 3 Years Charged

Palm Coast, FL – Deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) arrest a Palm Coast man after investigators learned he molested a young girl for approximately three years. Detectives say the investigation into 57-year-old Monserrate Teron began in September 2020. Around that time is when investigators first learned about a November 2019 incident that occurred in Flagler County involving Teron that was under investigation by the Lynnfield Police Department in Massachusetts. Lynnfield police told local investigators that a 9-year-old girl alleged Teron molested her since she was six. When investigators made contact with Teron, he stated that he could not "explain away" the victim’s claims, but recounted that she became "obsessed" with his genitals after she observed him taking a shower. He later claimed that he never told the child’s parents as he did not want them to get mad at him. Other claims made by Teron, according to a report supplied by the FCSO, include one where he is impotent and can’t maintain an erection. Per the report, Teron even stated that he sent a picture of his flaccid penis to the victim’s parents to "prove" he couldn’t get an erection. Teron also claimed that he had not ejaculated in three years, but investigators in Massachusetts were able to lift Teron’s DNA from a semen stain on a bed sheet in a bedroom where one of the incidents reportedly occurred. On May 4, investigators were able to obtain an arrest warrant, signed by Judge Terrance R. Perkins, for Teron. Using the FCSO Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), along with other investigative means, investigators learned that Teron had flown to Puerto Rico the day before his arrest warrant was signed. Analysts at the RTCC were then able to add Teron’s license plate to a "hot list," which would alert deputies once his license plate was detected by one of FCSO’s automatic license plate readers. Just before 6:00 Monday evening (May 10), deputies learned that Teron’s license plate was spotted within the Flagler County limits. Deputies eventually found Teron and apprehended him in the parking lot of a Palm Coast Wawa gas station. "This is another great example of technology combining with good old-fashioned police work to get criminals behind bars and out of our community effectively and efficiently," Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said. "This disgusting pervert is now in jail where he belongs and can’t hurt another child. I hope this arrest brings some form of closure to the victim and the victim’s family." Teron currently remains in custody at the Flagler County Jail, charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12-years-old. His bond is set at $250,000.
