Daytona Beach’s Razzle’s Nightclub is closing for business after over four decades. One of the area’s most locally-known and popular nightlife destinations is in the process of ending its long tenure before becoming a thing of the past. The nightclub was located near the northwestern corner of Seabreeze Boulevard and SR-A1A. Just across from the Seabreeze beach access ramp, the club was a staple of the party culture and spring break activity for years. “For 41 years, Razzle’s has been part of the Daytona Beach story,” said Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry in a Wednesday Facebook post. “Generations of residents and visitors celebrated, danced, and made memories inside its doors. Its closing is a genuine loss, and I sympathize deeply with the owners, the staff, and everyone who called it a second home.” Along with its local fame in Volusia County’s nightclub scene, Razzle’s also found itself as the setting of violent crime on multiple instances in recent years. Four people were injured in a July 2023 shooting at Razzle’s. The City of Daytona Beach responded by increasing security in the area. Mayor Henry pushed back against apparent notions that Daytona Beach’s city leadership played a role in the demise of Razzle’s. He also denied that ‘conditions on the beachside’ played a role. “The larger story is one that families across this country already know. Americans are tightening their belts,” Henry continued. “Rent, groceries, insurance, and gas all cost more than they did a few years ago, and when household budgets get tight, the things young and older people alike enjoy, such as a concert, a weekend trip, or a night out, are often the first to come off the table. Nightlife is changing across Florida and the nation, and clubs and entertainment venues are feeling that pressure everywhere. That is a hard economic reality, and it is not one that city government created.”
