Daytona Man Arrested for Accidental Shooting of Teen

A Daytona Beach man was arrested early Thursday morning for a shooting that injured a teenager late Wednesday night, the Daytona Beach Police Department says. 22-year-old Edward Brown has been charged with attempted manslaughter of a child per the DBPD. The incident occurred at the 1400 block of South Palmetto Avenue. The 16-year-old victim was found with a gunshot wound and taken to the hospital. In their initial statement on the shooting, the DBPD said the teen was in critical condition. Later after the shooting, Brown was identified as the suspect. Police say that he and the victim are familiar to one another. An argument was said to have started, leading to an accidental shooting. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed by the DBPD. An investigation remains ongoing by the DBPD’s Criminal Investigations Unit.
