The Volusia Sheriff’s Office has made seven arrests for traveling to meet a minor, the agency announced Monday. The investigation was deemed ‘Operation Tor/Pedo’. Among those arrested was 38-year-old Robert James Rece, the head of the Volusia Lacrosse youth lacrosse league. According to the VSO, Rece went to a gas station believing he was meeting a minor he spoke to online. The investigation was conducted from July 9 to July 11. Only three arrests were of Volusia County residents. Rece is from DeLeon Springs, and one suspect each are listed as residing in Daytona Beach and Port Orange. One suspect is said to have been visiting from Uzbekistan. Also involved alongside the Volusia Sheriff’s Office were the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Port Orange Police Department, Daytona Beach Police Department, South Daytona Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and State Attorney’s Office. The seven suspects arrested are as follows. All were charged with traveling to meet a minor, using a computer/internet service to solicit a minor, and unlawful usage of a two-way communication device. Ages and cities of residence are listed.
