A domestic dispute in Deltona turned violent on Saturday, leading to the shooting of a 41-year-old man. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office has announced that Jermaine Jackson, the shooting victim, was arrested in connection to a frightening altercation at the residence of himself and his wife. According to the VSO, the incident occurred at around 5:22 pm on Saturday. The dispute arose at a residence in the 1200 block of Polk Avenue. Deputies were called out to the residence but found that both parties had left before their arrival. An investigation into the incident was launched, and detectives concluded that a physical altercation had taken place between Jackson and his wife. They did eventually locate Jackson – when he arrived at a hospital in Daytona Beach with a gunshot wound to his arm. The wound was said to be non-life-threatening. Detectives later tracked down the wife elsewhere in Deltona. She was interviewed about the altercation, saying that her husband had attacked her. He reportedly walked out of their residence, and she locked the door. After doing so, Jackson is said to have tried to force his way back inside. The wife, saying she feared for her safety, fired a shot at Jackson. As of Tuesday only Jackson has been reported to have been arrested in connection to the incident. He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on no bond, charged with simple battery, giving false information to law enforcement, and two counts of violating probation. Jackson has several prior bookings on record at the Volusia County Branch Jail. Previous charges include manslaughter, domestic battery by strangulation, grand theft of a motor vehicle, oxycodone possession, and driving with a suspended license among others.
