1 Killed in Deltona Shooting Monday

A shooting in Deltona on Monday left one victim dead, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday. A 21-year-old man was shot to death at 140 Orchid Woods Court at a condominium. The VSO was contacted about the shooting shortly after 1:00 am on Monday, the agency said in their report. More than one person called it in, with descriptions of multiple gunshots and people screaming. When law enforcement arrived, they discovered the victim dead outside the door of a second floor condo, having been shot several times. According to the VSO, footage from a camera doorbell captured a suspect on recording. Using that imagery, deputies found a man who matched the description minutes later near the intersection of Providence Blvd and Perimeter Drive. The man believed to be the shooter has not been identified as of early Monday afternoon. He was spotted at 1:15 am, and at 1:20 am a K-9 unit reportedly found a black backpack which the VSO says the suspect ditched while he moved along a bike trail nearby.
