One DeLand man has been arrested and charged with second degree murder in connection to a shooting that occurred Monday, law enforcement has confirmed. 36-year-old Charles Iseman is accused of shooting and killing a 67-year-old victim after an argument over beer and cigarettes. The incident reportedly occurred at around 10:30 pm on Monday. The shooting itself took place at the Dollar General store at 745 N. Spring Garden Ave, but the dispute that led up to it is said to have happened in a homeless camp in the woods nearby behind the store. The DeLand Police Department responded to reports of a shooting, and discovered the victim dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been disclosed by law enforcement, as officials notify the man’s next of kin. Reports on the shooting indicate that Iseman and the victim were in a disagreement over beer and cigarettes, which turned into a full-blown altercation. That disagreement ultimately led to the fatal shooting of the victim. Iseman was hospitalized after the incident, and later booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail where he’s being held without bond. Prior to this charge, Iseman has no other booking records in Volusia County.
