DeLand, FL – The DeLand area was once again part of another strong weather event. This time with a storm that damaged multiple planes and buildings at DeLand Municipal Airport. Chris Graham, a spokesperson for the city, said a storm with gusts of more than 70 mph ripped through north DeLand Thursday night (August 20th). As a result of the storm, three planes were damaged along with a number of hangars that either had their doors pushed in or lifted off their tracks. And while it may seem like a lot, the city says that the damage was minimal and crews had mostly repaired all of the buildings by mid-morning Friday (August 21st). A video from the City of DeLand’s Twitter page shows how strong the winds were as they whipped through the airport. Video from DeLand Municipal Airport Thursday evening.
