Two people were shot in a Volusia County Walgreens on Wednesday, the Port Orange Police Department has confirmed. Two employees received injuries before the suspect reportedly shot themselves. No fatalities have yet been reported. According to the POPD, the incident occurred at around 5:26 pm at the Walgreens at 1625 Taylor Road in Port Orange. The nature and motive of the shooting is still unclear. Fortunately, only one customer was inside the store at the time of the shooting and they’ve been reported to be uninjured. The two employees who were shot were transported a local hospital. When officers with the Port Orange Police Department responded to the scene Wednesday afternoon, officers were said to have found the suspect in the parking lot outside the store with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While initial rumors and reports from witnesses suggested there’d been a fatality in the shooting, the POPD has not yet stated that anyone involved succumbed to their injuries. The families of the victims were reportedly notified. Aside from the Port Orange Police Department, the shooting also drew a response from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Department, South Daytona Police Department, and Florida Fish and Wildlife.
