Daytona Beach, FL - A New Hampshire woman is dead after police say a rear-end collision knocked her off the back of the motorcycle she was riding on. Officers say the crash occurred on International Speedway Boulevard (ISB) near Hagen Terrace just before 5:30 Sunday morning (March 14th). According to a report from police, a 2013 Harley motorcycle and a 2000 Toyota Rav4 were both in the outside right lanes of eastbound ISB when the Toyota hit the back of the Harley, wedging the rear of the bike underneath the front of the vehicle. As a result, the male rider, an 18-year-old male from Durand, Illinois, and the woman, who is from Seabrook, New Hampshire, fell off the bike. Police say the woman died after she hit the road. The male rider was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Toyota, who has been identified as a 25-year-old man from Warner Robins, Georgia, agreed to a blood draw after officers noted possible signs of impairment. Neither him or his four other passengers reported injuries from the crash. Detectives later learned that the man driving the Harley was heading westbound on ISB when his hat flew off his head before the crash. That prompted him and his father, who was driving another vehicle following behind the motorcycle, to make a u-turn at Hagen so they could retrieve the hat. Police say both vehicles were stopped when the accident occurred. Neither of the riders were wearing a helmet. Charges have not been filed as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
