Two Students Charged In School Airsoft Incident

Holly Hill, FL - Two young Holly Hill School students are now facing charges after the pair not only brought airsoft guns on campus, but used one of them to shoot another student in a locker room. The Holly Hill Police Department (HHPD) said the incident occurred on Wednesday (January 27th), but was not reported until Thursday (January 28th). According to police, the incident took place in the boy’s locker room where one student, armed with an airsoft gun, shot another student. The victim—who was not injured—did not immediately report the incident. After learning about a student bringing an airsoft gun on campus, staff began to investigate the allegation. One student admitted to bringing an airsoft gun to school the day prior, but a different student used the gun to shoot at the victim, as they said the airsoft gun they brought to school did not work. Staff eventually made contact with the second student who brought two airsoft guns with them that day. Both guns were confiscated from the student. Both students, who were not identified by police, were charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, while the one who shot at the victim faces an additional charge of aggravated battery. A release from HHPD further stated that all students involved in the incident were 12 and 13 years-old. This is also the third time students have been arrested and charged in the Volusia and Flagler area in one week for school-related incidents; in fact, all three incidents occurred on the same day. On Wednesday, two students were arrested in Flagler County, one for recording a song that contained threats against a Matanzas High faculty member, and the other for making a bomb threat against Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School in Palm Coast; that student was only 11 years-old.
