DBPD Arrests Four In Beachside Nuisance Property Raid

Daytona Beach, FL -  Another nuisance beachside property in Daytona Beach is shut down after a search warrant was served around 6 a.m today (January 28). Two people, 47-year-old Christopher Schmahlenberger and 22-year-old Johnnie Staley are charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a place where a controlled substance is illegally kept, and unlawful possession of a Schedule II substance. Two others, 23-year-old Derrick Goodin and 46-year-old Moises Ocasio are each charged with resisting arrest without violence. This morning’s raid is the third since December on nuisance properties. Similar search warrants were served at the Best Southern Sun Plaza Motel on Ridgewood Avenue and the Camellia Motel, located on A-1-A.  Officers also seized 63 grams of methamphetamine and various kinds of drug paraphernalia found inside the home during the raid. “We’d like to thank the community for continuing to provide tips about drug houses like the one we entered this morning,” says DBPD Captain Scott Lee, who oversees the POP Unit. “Just letting us know what you see may seem like a small thing, but it’s really not. It allows us to build solid cases, put these kinds of people behind bars and improve the quality of life for residents.”
