City Of Edgewater To Replace All Water Meters

Edgewater, FL – The City of Edgewater announced this morning (January 18) that they are in the process of replacing every water meter in the city. There are no specifics at this time on when or what part of the city the replacements will begin. According to the City of Edgewater newsletter, "The meters currently in use are reaching the end of their useful life and are due to be replaced." There are more than 13,000 meters across the city and it’s expected to take several years to replace them all.  The City will also upgrade to the Sensus FlexNet system that will use smart meters and transmitters to send readings on an hourly basis to the Sensus Analytics Software. The FlexNet communication network allows customers to view their water usage and will send alerts when a potential leak issue is found. This information comes after the City Council meeting on January 11, when they heard from Tommy Armitage, a local plumber, who offered to install meters inside the home or business in order to compare with the city’s meters.
