AdventHealth To Distribute Vaccine To Volusia County First Responders, Open Antibody Clinic

Daytona Beach, FL – Beginning tomorrow, (January 6) Volusia County public safety officers, to include  police, fire, EMS, beach safety, corrections and animal control staff, can receive Pfizer COVID-19 vaccinations on the campus of AdventHealth Daytona Beach. Distribution hours are from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.  this week, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Dr. Joe Smith, chief medical officer of AdventHealth Daytona Beach, encouraged all first responders to get vaccinated. “I’ve talked to many, many people who’ve had the vaccine, and any side effects have been very minor and brief,” Smith said. “I’ve taken it, and I had no reaction whatsoever and am feeling great.” Also starting tomorrow, an infusion clinic offering monoclonal-antibody treatments will open on the campus of AdventHealth Fish Memorial in Orange City. The 6-seat clinic will offer both bamlanivimab and Regeneron for COVID-19 outpatients. The antibody treatments, which require a doctor’s prescription, are for COVID-positive outpatients at risk of progressing to a more severe case of the disease.
