Police: Deltona Man Shot at Car That Paid Him Fake Money for Pot

DELTONA, Fla. – A man in Deltona has been arrested for allegedly firing a gun at two people who tried to pay him fake money for marijuana, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office says. 19 year-old Raymon Plummer is at the Volusia Branch Jail, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into a vehicle. The ordeal reportedly began when Plummer made contact with the victims, aged 17 and 20, on Instagram. The two reportedly met up around Providence Blvd and East Chapel Dr in Deltona at around 3:00 pm on Thursday. According to the VSO’s statement, the two buyers tried to pay for their pot with a fake $100 bill. Plummer is said to have realized the fake-out quickly, and then began shooting at their vehicle as they drove away. Residents in the area called 911 after hearing the commotion, and deputies soon discovered an empty SUV with flat tires and bullet holes in its passenger side. Both the victims were located and questioned by police. They were able to provide a description, but not a name, of the man they say shot at them. Detectives soon found shell casings and broken glass on the road just over 500 feet from Plummer’s residence, and the victims were shortly thereafter able to pick Plummer out of a photo lineup with total certainty. VSO deputies arrested Plummer soon thereafter and booked him into the Volusia County Branch Jail. He’s still being held on $30,000 bond as of Friday morning.
