Flagler County Preparations To Receive COVID-19 Vaccines

Bunnell, FL – Flagler County Emergency Services Director Jonathan Lord says he doesn’t have any exact dates for when the Pfizer vaccines or any others will make it to Flagler County but expects to see vaccine availability by the end of the month. "For health care workers in certain industries as well as some residents of long-term care facilities. We have plans in place for the general public distribution and we’ll probably use many of the same places we’ve been using for our COVID-19 testing." As for the question of freezer capacity, if Flagler County should receive doses of the Pfizer vaccine, Lord says they have adequate freezer capability in the county already.  "Other vaccines coming online don’t have the same storage requirement. We don’t know which vaccine we will be allocated. We may be allocated, over time, some of both, of the two primary ones that are coming out soon, or maybe, there are three or four in total, vaccine candidates out there." Lord says that he wants the public to know that the vaccines will be safe unless you have specific medical issues, about which you should always consult your doctor first. He says rest assured that the same rigorous tests meeting the same criteria have been done as are always required, just in record time.
