Palm Coast, FL – A man with an extensive criminal history in the state is now back behind bars, this time in the Flagler County Jail. Deputies say they found 32-year-old David Howard Jr. speeding in the area of West State Road 100 and West Black Point Road on Friday (Dec. 17). A traffic stop was attempted, but Howard instead sped off and fled toward Volusia County. Other deputies were called in to try and use StopSticks against the vehicle as it traveled south on US-1, but it wasn’t until Howard was on I-95 near State Road 100 that deputies were able to finally stop his vehicle and conduct a felony traffic stop. When deputies finally made contact with Howard they also made contact with a female passenger. She told authorities that she only met him a couple of times and he picked her up from her residence in Orlando around 9:30 PM. She said they were headed to Palatka to meet a friend before returning to Orlando. The passenger added that she tried getting Howard to stop when deputies attempted to stop them, but Howard instead called his mom, who also told him to stop the vehicle. Deputies later determined that Howard’s license was suspended back in 2016. A search of his vehicle found four white pills, identified as Oxycodone, in the driver’s door compartment, along with 12 grams of marijuana. Deputies also recovered another 8.2 grams of marijuana and on the rear right passenger seat was a small black bag containing two small baggies with an additional 200 Oxycodone pills. A total of 44 grams of Oxycodone was recovered and $5,651 in cash was also seized. In a release from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the agency states that Howard has been arrested and charged 43 times in Florida, with nine felony convictions. Some of his previous charges include grand theft of a motor vehicle, an assortment of drug and narcotics possession, and trafficking. Now Howard is facing trafficking oxycodone 25g or more, fleeing with disregard of safety to persons/property, driving while license suspended with knowledge, selling of oxycodone, and possession of marijuana 20g or more. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and is being held on $160,500 bond.
