Each year the American Advertising Federation of Daytona Beach awards several scholarships to talented students who are currently enrolled at the collegiate level in the general areas of advertising and marketing. Scholarships are awarded to students whom submit an essay that follows the supplied guidelines as well as hold an above average GPA.
AAF Daytona Beach works with local area colleges – involving its students in as many functions as possible while helping them grow and develop professionally.
The scholarships are distributed from the Jim Shipley scholarship fund. Jim Shipley was a creative director of extraordinary talent. His work won more than 100 local, regional and national ADDY Awards and was recognized by AAF Daytona Beach with the AAF Silver Medal. Jim was an active community volunteer, especially in education – serving on the DSC Advisory Committee for Commercial and Advertising Arts. In 1996 Jim died suddenly. His death rocked the local advertising industry. To recognize Jim’s professional accomplishments and his generous attitude toward mentoring students of graphic arts, a scholarship bearing his name was established.
All proceeds from the annual Bids4Kids Auction shall be used exclusively by AAF Daytona Beach to support its programs, education, operations, Jim Shipley Scholarship Fund and public service projects. Your donation helps us help others to continue to achieve lofty standards for our local advertising community as well as others in need.
Over the past years, the Daytona Beach AdFed has awarded thousands of dollars to students in scholarships at our Annual Addy Award Galas. AdFed has also contributed to charities at the local level.
