Cops and Joggers 5K Beach Run – July 15

The Ormond Beach Police Department’s annual fundraiser beach 5k run and walk is set for Saturday July 15 at Andy Romano Park. Registration opens at 7am with the race starting at 8am. The race will take place on the beach adjacent to the park. The course runs south, turns round and returns.

The police-themed race called “Cops and Joggers” raises funds for community programs of the Ormond Police Department. The first 300 runners will receive a flag football belt to wear during the race, Ormond Police officers will be situated along the course and try to remove as many flags from runners as possible.

The post-race shirt give-away to runners, awards ceremony and social will take place at the Beach Bucket Grill after the race. Medals in 84 age and gender categories will be awarded along with two over-all best-time plaques. Also, prizes are awarded for best costumes so runners are encouraged to dress in their best “bad guy” get-up.

Though the race is chip timed, it is as much a fun run and runners, walkers, families and joggers are all welcome to participate. Pre-registration is just $25, in-person registration is $30.
