Bobby Bones Joins “American Idol” as Official In-House Mentor

Country DJ and Dancing With the Stars contestant Bobby Bones has just lined up his next gig on the small screen. Deadline reports that Bones will join American Idol as its official in-house mentor ahead of its second season on new network ABC. The announcement was made Monday on the latest DWTS, which also airs on ABC. In Idol‘s first rebooted season, Bones helped the show’s top 24 contestants prepare for their all-star celeb duets. In his new role, he’ll “offer his industry expertise throughout the competition, helping contenders reach the next level of their artistry and performances.” American Idol will return sometime in the 2018-19 season with Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie once again serving as judges.
